Cluely, Verve AI, ParakeetAI: interview copilots become meeting AI

Cluely, which made its name as an interview helper, now sells meeting AI and doesn't mention interviews on its pricing page. It isn't an isolated pivot — it's the category moving, and it affects candidates more than it looks.

Open the sites of three notable western products in this category and you'll notice something: interviews are either one scenario among many, or absent entirely.

Cluely, which became famous specifically as a technical-interview helper, now describes itself as "meeting AI that helps during the call, not after". The word "interview" doesn't appear on its pricing page. ParakeetAI lists interviews alongside sales and client calls. Verve AI builds copilots by domain — coding, finance, consulting, cybersecurity.

Checked 1 September 2026. Here's why it happened and what follows for someone looking for a job.

What their pages show

Cluely. Starter free with limited AI responses and meeting notes, Pro at $19.99 a month, and Pro + Undetectability at $149.99 a month — the last one differing in that the window is "completely hidden to meeting screen sharing software". Mac desktop and mobile apps.

ParakeetAI. Supports Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, Lark and Amazon Chime, plus CoderPad and HackerRank. $149.90 a month, $49.99 a month billed annually, $78 a week, plus hour packs from $59 for three hours. Ten free sessions.

Verve AI. Desktop for Mac and Windows, an iPhone app, transcription in 55+ languages, a stealth mode. Free tier: 3 copilot sessions, 5 mock interviews, 14 resume-side tools, 5 reports. Paid prices aren't shown on the open page.

Why the category is drifting

The reason is boring and economic.

An interview is a short need. Someone searches for two or three months, pays, gets hired and leaves. Churn is built into the product: the better you helped, the sooner the customer stopped paying.

Work meetings are an infinite need. Same software, same audio capture, same model — but the customer pays for years. Hence the pricing: Cluely Pro at $19.99 against $89–$299 for products that stayed in the interview niche. A mass market can charge less.

Cluely's $149.99 tier is worth a second look on its own: the premium is charged specifically for hiding the window from screen-sharing software. Invisibility has been carved out as a premium feature at seven times the base price.

What follows for a candidate

First: a general meeting AI performs worse in an interview than a specialised one. Not because the model is weaker, but because it has no context. An interview copilot loads your resume and the job description, knows the shape of the questions and answers in the first person. A meeting assistant transcribes and takes notes — a different job.

The difference shows on "tell me about your experience with Kafka": the specialised product answers with projects from your resume, the general one with general facts about Kafka.

Second: for an interview, the price is still measured in months. If a meeting assistant costs $19.99 and a specialised one $89, the gap across a three-month search is $210 — less than a day's salary in most roles worth interviewing for. This is the last place to economise.

Third, and most important: interviews will change. When prompts during a call become an ordinary part of work, companies react. You can already see how: more discussion of the solution instead of just the solution, more "why did you choose that", onsite final rounds returning, and problems with deliberately incomplete requirements that force a clarifying question.

None of that rewards reading off a screen. A candidate who understands their answer beats one who recites it, and the gap is widening.

What it means in practice

The drift doesn't make prompts useless, but it changes where effort pays off.

A prompt stays useful as insurance: unfamiliar technology, the reason-for-leaving question, the salary conversation. Everything that repeats from interview to interview is cheaper to fix with preparation — mock interviews give you what no copilot can: the habit of speaking in your own words under someone else's gaze.

We covered the ethics separately: where companies ban AI in interviews and where they invite you to bring your own tools. The category's move into work meetings only accelerates that discussion — a tool everyone uses in a standup is hard to call cheating in an interview.

FAQ

Can I use a meeting AI during a job interview?

Technically yes — audio capture and on-screen prompts work the same way. Practically it's weaker than a specialised product, because it doesn't know your resume or the job ad and answers with general facts instead of your experience.

What is Cluely now?

AI for work meetings: notes, answers and prompts during a call. Interviews aren't mentioned on the site. Plans: Starter free, Pro $19.99 a month, Pro + Undetectability $149.99 a month, where the premium buys hiding the window from screen-sharing software.

How much does ParakeetAI cost?

$149.90 a month, $49.99 a month billed annually, $78 a week, plus hour packs from $59 for three hours. Ten free sessions, no card. Checked 1 September 2026.

Why are meeting assistants cheaper than interview copilots?

Bigger market, longer customer life. An interview is a two-to-three-month need; meetings are permanent. A product with an indefinite customer lifetime can charge $19.99; one with a three-month lifetime can't.

Will interviews change because of these tools?

They already are: more discussion of the reasoning, more deliberately incomplete problems, onsite final rounds coming back. The format is drifting towards places where reading off a screen helps less and understanding helps more.

Should a candidate pick a specialised copilot or a meeting assistant?

For a job search, the specialised one — it sees your resume and the job ad and answers in your voice. A meeting assistant makes sense if hiring calls are rare for you and work meetings are daily.
